• Had a Kitchenaid dishwasher go out. Being 17 months after purchase, it was under extended warranty. The warranty company, Safeware, chose Gulf Coast Appliance to do the repair. It was 4 days after the initial call before someone came out and diagnosed that the pump and control board had failed. They said they could get around to the actual repair 9 days later, or 14 days after the failure. We will not buy a warranty program from Safeware ever again. Retailers and insurance companies make a lot of money from these programs which is why you get the hard pitch everytime you buy something. Most times they are never used, but when they are it makes me think that they have some kind of negotiated rates that put your repair at the bottom of the list that they will get to when they don't have anything else to do. The retailer, Good Deal Appliance here in Naples, who did everything they could to make the insurance company and repair company more responsive, ended up providing a replacement unit, and said they were moving to another insurance company for warranty work. I would pass on an extended warranty if the only choice was Safeware. Better to just pay fr it yourself. At least you will be able to pick your repair company.
