• I am not one to regularly review restaurants online (positive or negative), but my experience at Captain Chuck's was so horrible, I am compelled to leave a review?. To begin, my in-laws had previously dined at Captain Chucks and my father-in-law raved about the Endless Perch offered every Friday. A huge fan of fresh perch, I was really looking forward to a night out with my in-laws and family friends at Captain Chuck's. Now, my in-laws warned me that the service was a little slow, but this warning did not prepare me for how inexcusably slow our service would be. We were sat at our table at about 7:20pm and put in our drink order right away. After our drinks were delivered to our table, we quickly put in our dinner orders, which were pretty straight-forward as 4 out of the 8 of us ordered the perch (my mother-in-law even called in earlier in the day to let the staff know to expect a party of 8 that would be ordering lots of perch). I must add that after my brother-in-law finished his first glass of Guinness (served in a plastic cup) he requested his next Guinness to be served in an actual Guinness ? its Guinness after all ? not Natural Ice. The waitress promptly responded that ?glass? is cut off at 7:00pm. Really? You can?t make an exception when a customer requests a glass? We enjoyed each other?s company for some time, though noticed quite a bit of time had passed since placing our order when our server returned to the table to notify my mother-in-law that they were out of the vegetarian entr�e she requested. At that point, I looked at my watch? it was 8:40pm. WE HAD PUT IN OUR ORDER OVER AN HOUR AGO AND THEY HAD NOT EVEN BEGUN TO PREPARE OUR FOOD!!! 20 minutes later, our food was delivered to our table, followed by an appearance by woman that introduced herself as a co-owner of the restaurant. We listened to this woman for about 5 minutes as she slurred about how it was hard to find summer help in this area and that her kitchen staff sent her a text while she was out in the middle of the lake celebrating her birthday pleading for help. This ?co-owner? so charitably left her birthday party on the boat to return to shore to help her staff despite the fact that it was her birthday (she reminded us it was her birthday about 5 times). She ended her speech by introducing us to her manager and explaining that this manager would be compensating us for our long wait. At the end of our dinner, our server brought our bill to the table. However, there was no compensation. We explained to the server that we had been promised some sort of compensation for our wait ? Ummmmm, duh, we just waited over an hour for our food? So the final bill comes back to the table and a whooping 10% had been deducted from our bill. Seriously, 10%....... I do not make this stuff up. Oh yea, and how was the food you ask? The perch was simply ?ok?. Definitely not worth the hour we waited for it and the 10% discount we were ?generously? granted.
