• I went to return the car today that I had got from Budget Rent a Car/ Avis. I called them at 12:23pm. on 8.29.12 and spoke with Mike (the owner). The conversation was to see if I could bring it before they closed and switch the Card on File with my new company card. Mike said not a problem have it in here before 6:00pm, that is when we close. At 5:00pm I got away from the plant to drop off car. I called Budget Rent a car at 5:03pm (unsure who I spoke with, I assumed it was Mike) I asked them what was the that was recorded on my rental so I could fill it back up to the exact recording. They immediately told me Full. So, I remembered at that time I had taken a photo of my Dash to remind myself of what was actually in the car. I replied back to Employee that I remember taking a photo of the dash and it was just a little over half of a tank. They assured me that what I had taken a photo of was wrong and that it was a full tank and that they would like to see the photo. I said not a problem when I get there I will show you. I went to gas station and filled up the rental to exactly what I had a photo of. It was $32.00 worth of gas, 8.76gal ($3.649perGal rate) (I was driving a Chevy Impala, with a 17Gal tank) When I filled up I had 58miles until empty left in car that would roughly be 29MPG that would have left me with 6.24 gal left to fill up to full. If I would not have kept track of what I started out with I would have got a Charge for 6.24 GAL at a $4.810 a gal. $30.01 dollar extra would have been charged to my account. I walked in to Budget and was greeted by a teller named Terry. This is when I introduced my evidence and wanted to make sure I was not going to get charged for this. They accepted but that is when I was told I would be charged for an extra day due to me not returning the car by 10:45 AM.. I said, but I called at 12:23pm and asked if I was ok to bring the car before you closed. Mike (the owner) stepped in the conversation and said I was who you talked to and never said I was going to wave the extra day rental. I said. "What Extra Day and if I was going to be charged an extra days rental why didn't you tell me?" Mike said, "You did not ask".. If I was going to be charged for another day rental I would had dropped everything and brought it down at that minute. I could had promised that my Itinerary was left open until 4:00PM. (Which in fact it was set for me to return it at 4:00pm NOT 10:45am) Mike had verbally accepted me to bring the car in before they closed, because of my hectic work schedule, and to use my corporate card. I felt that they should have excused the misunderstanding and for the forgery on the gas mileage. The owner Mike was not having it.
